Explanatory Note

This Bill requires Housing Nova Scotia to prepare a business plan and an accountability report in each year and requires the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to table them in the House of Assembly.

An Act to Amend Chapter 213
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Housing Nova Scotia Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 213 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Housing Nova Scotia Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 12 the following Section:

    12A (1) The Corporation shall prepare an annual business plan in accordance with the regulations.

    (2) The Corporation shall prepare an annual accountability report in accordance with the regulations.

    (3) The Minister shall ensure that the annual business plan and annual accountability report are prepared not later than the thirty-first day of December in each fiscal year and that the annual business plan and annual accountability report are tabled at the next ensuing sitting of the Legislature.

2 Subsection 13(1) of Chapter 213, as amended by Chapter 30 of the Acts of 1990 and Chapter 11 of the Acts of 2020, is further amended by adding immediately after clause (ab) the following clauses:

    (aba) respecting annual business plans of the Corporation;

    (abb) respecting annual accountability reports of the Corporation;
