Explanatory Note

This Bill prevents the incorporation of any new towns or villages. At present, a village may only be incorporated upon the dissolution of a town.

An Act to Amend Chapter 18
of the Acts of 1998,
the Municipal Government Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Subsection 354(6) of Chapter 18 of the Acts of 1998, the Municipal Government Act, is amended by striking out "or in a subsequent order incorporating the town," in the second and third lines.

2 Sections 383 to 393 and clause 399(2)(d) of Chapter 18 are repealed.

3 Subsection 400(4) of Chapter 18 is amended by striking out "or, to the extent it has jurisdiction, any village commission that may replace the former town council" in the last three lines and substituting "of the municipality to which the dissolved town has been annexed".
