Explanatory Note

This Bill permits any type of retail business to be open on a uniform closing day if no sales staff are employed in the business on that day other than an owner of the business.

An Act to Amend Chapter 402
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Retail Business Uniform Closing Day Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Subsection 3(2) of the Chapter 402 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Retail Business Uniform Closing Day Act, is amended by adding immediately after clause (r) the following clause:

(ra) the operation of a retail business if no person is selling or offering for sale any goods or services in the business other than an owner of the business;
