An Act to Establish
an Economic Recovery Task Force

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Economic Recovery Task Force Act.

2 (1) The Governor in Council shall appoint an economic recovery task force.

(2) The members of the task force must include

(a) representatives from

    (i) industry and business, including arts and culture organizations, not-for-profit organizations and co-operatives,

    (ii) labour unions,

    (iii) environmental organizations,

    (iv) African Nova Scotian organizations,

    (v) Mi'kmaq communities,

    (vi) municipalities, and

    (vii) colleges and universities;

(b) experts on early childhood, primary and secondary education;

(c) economists; and

(d) one member of the House of Assembly from each party that currently has a member elected to the Assembly.

(3) The mandate of the task force is to advise the Governor in Council on

(a) the impacts of COVID-19 on the Province's economy;

(b) the prospects for recovery from those impacts;

(c) opportunities for change; and

(d) the best use of government supports.

3 (1) The economic recovery task force shall report its advice to the Governor in Council no later than September 1, 2021.

(2) The Minister of Inclusive Economic Growth shall table the report provided by the task force in the House of Assembly within 15 days of it being received by the Governor in Council if the Assembly is then sitting, or, if it is not then sitting, within 15 days after the Assembly next sits.
