Explanatory Note

This Bill provides that, where a petition tabled in the House of Assembly is signed by at least 250 people, a response must be made within 30 days of it being tabled.

An Act to Amend Chapter 1
(1992 Supplement)
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the House of Assembly Act,
Respecting Petitions

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 1 (1992 Supplement) of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the House of Assembly Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 32A the following Section:

    32B Where a petition tabled in the House has two hundred and fifty or more signatures to the petition, the House, the Government or the member of the Executive Council to whom it is addressed shall respond to the petition within thirty days of it being tabled.
