Explanatory Note

The purpose of this Act is

(a) to repeal statutes that are, or soon will be, obsolete, because of never being proclaimed, never being implemented, having been replaced by other statutes or programs or otherwise no longer being used; and

(b) to make consequential amendments to remove references in the Public Trustee Act to one of the repealed statutes.

An Act to Repeal Various Statutes

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Statute Law Repeal (2015) Act.

2 Chapter 26 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Atlantic Institute of Education Act, is repealed.

3 Chapter 61 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Cattle Pest Control Act, is repealed.

4 Chapter 34 of the Acts of 2000, An Act to Amend Chapter 92 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Consumer Protection Act, and Chapter 291 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Mortgage Brokers' and Lenders' Registration Act, is repealed.

5 Chapter 115 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Cultural Foundation Act, is repealed.

6 Chapter 137 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Education Assistance Act, is repealed.

7 Chapter 139 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Educational Communications Agency Act, is repealed.

8 Chapter 202 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Homeowners' Incentive Act, is repealed.

9 Chapter 227 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Inebriates' Guardianship Act, is repealed.

10 Chapter 248 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Land Holdings Disclosure Act, is repealed.

11 Chapter 261 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Livestock Brands Act, is repealed.

12 Chapter 307 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Narcotic Drug Addicts Act, is repealed.

13 Chapter 10 of the Acts of 1993, the Public Sector Unpaid Leave Act, is repealed.

14 Subclause 4(1)(a)(iii) of Chapter 379 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Public Trustee Act, is repealed.

15 Clause 5(1)(c) of Chapter 379 is repealed.

16 Chapter 29 of the Acts of 1996, the Regional Community Development Act, is repealed.

17 Chapter 413 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the School Loan Fund Act, is repealed.

18 Chapter 437 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Southwestern Nova Scotia Community College Act, is repealed.

19 Chapter 482 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Uniform Law Act, is repealed.

20 Section 16 comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
