Explanatory Note

This Bill is to allow Nova Scotian bus companies to transport passengers to meet tours originating from other provinces.

An Act to Amend Chapter 292
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Motor Carrier Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 27 of Chapter 292 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Motor Carrier Act, as amended by Chapter 23 of the Acts of 1992, Chapter 23 of the Acts of 1994 and Chapter 45 of the Acts of 2012, is further amended by adding immediately after subsection (1) the following subsection:

(1A) Notwithstanding subsection (1), on or before November 15, 2014, the Board shall amend the Board Public Passenger Motor Carrier Act Regulations to allow motor carriers to transport passengers within the Province or to adjoining provinces to meet a specialty charter, within the meaning of those Regulations, originating from outside the Province.
