Explanatory Notes

Clause 1 amends the short title to the Act.

Clause 2 changes the definition of "cabooses" to "railway cars" because of the addition of box cars and a dining car to the Train Station Inn.
Clause 3

(a) makes technical amendments as a result of the change of definition in Clause 2; and

(b) amends the description of a washroom with a lock as a result of the change in location of washrooms in the railway cars.

Clause 4 is a technical amendment replacing the word "caboose" with "railway car".

An Act to Amend Chapter 14
of the Acts of 1995,
the Train Station Inn Cabooses Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows: 1 Section 1 of Chapter 14 of the Acts of 1995, the Train Station Inn Cabooses Act, is amended by striking out "Cabooses" in the second line and substituting "Railway Cars".

2 Section 2 of Chapter 14 is repealed and the following Section substituted:

2 In this Act, "railway cars" means the rolling stock formerly used as railway cars located at or near the Train Station Inn in Tatamagouche in the County of Colchester.
3 (1) Subsection 3(1) of Chapter 14 is amended by striking out "neither" in the first line and substituting "none".

(2) Subsection 3(2) of Chapter 14 is amended by

(a) striking out "cabooses existing on April 19, 1995," in the first and second lines of clause (c) and substituting "railway cars"; and

(b) striking out clause (d) and substituting the following clause:

(d) a washroom in the railway car that has an outside exit has a door, other than the outside exit door, that is equipped with a locking device.
4 Chapter 14 is further amended by striking out "caboose" and "cabooses" wherever they appear and substituting "railway car" and "railway cars", respectively.
