Honourable Brian Comer
The Honourable Brian Comer was first elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly as MLA for Sydney River-Mira-Louisbourg in a by-election in 2019 and was re-elected in 2021and 2024 as MLA for Cape Breton East.
Prior to entering politics, Brian was a registered nurse, working across the healthcare system. Brian grew up in Donkin and spent most of his earlier years lobster fishing with his late father, brother, and uncles.
Brian is married to the love of his life Jennifer and is blessed to have a beautiful daughter, Maria and son, Johnny. His biggest accomplishment is being a dad. Brian serves as the Minister for Addictions and Mental Health and has been the Minister of Communications Nova Scotia and Minister of Youth.
Brian has a Master’s in Health Administration from the University of Regina, a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of New Brunswick and a Bachelor of Arts from Cape Breton University.
