Long-term Care Recruitment Accountability Act

An Act Respecting Long-term Care
Recruitment Accountability

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Long-term Care Recruitment Accountability Act.

2 In this Act, "Minister" means the Minister of Seniors and Long Term Care.

3 The Minister shall, on an ongoing basis, collect data respecting the number of

(a) vacant positions; and

(b) professionals who have been successfully recruited,

at every long-term care facility in the Province, broken down by each of the management zones established under the regulations made under the Health Authorities Act, for each of the following professions:

(c) nurse practitioners;

(d) registered nurses;

(e) licensed practical nurses; and

(f) continuing care assistants.

4 (1) On a monthly basis, the Minister shall prepare an accountability report outlining the data collected under Section 3 for the previous month.

(2) The accountability report must be released publicly by the Minister within five business days after the first day of each month and be posted on the Department of Seniors and Long Term Care website.

5 The money required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
