An Act to Exempt Nova Scotia Residents
of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (Maritimes)
from Paying Vehicle Registration
and Driver's Renewal Fees

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Appreciation Act.

2 The Minister shall make regulations pursuant to the Motor Vehicle Act exempting residents of the Province, who are active volunteer members in good standing of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (Maritimes), Inc., from paying

(a) the registration fee for one passenger or one commercial vehicle of a registered weight of 5000 kilograms or less registered by the volunteer;

(b) the issuance fee for the number plate attached to the vehicle exempt from registration fee pursuant to clause (a); and

(c) the fee for the renewal of the volunteer's driver's license.

3 The regulations made pursuant to Section 2 must provide that upon a person retiring as, resigning as or otherwise ceasing to be an active volunteer member in good standing of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (Maritimes), Inc., the exemptions required pursuant to Section 2 no longer apply to that person.
