Explanatory Note

This Bill gives the Deputy Registrar General the authority to delegate powers, duties or functions to the Assistant Deputy Registrar General and repeals a requirement for the Deputy Minister of Health to act in the place of the Deputy Registrar General and the Assistant Deputy Registrar General when they are both absent.

An Act to Amend Chapter 494
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Vital Statistics Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Subsection 29(3) of Chapter 494 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Vital Statistics Act, is repealed and the following subsection substituted:

(3) The Deputy Registrar General may delegate any of the Deputy Registrar General's powers, duties or functions to the Assistant Deputy Registrar General and the Assistant Deputy Registrar General has authority to the same extent as if the power, duty or function was being exercised by the Deputy Registrar General.
