Explanatory Notes

Clause 1 corrects a grammatical error in the Human Rights Act.

Clause 2 corrects names for a position and for a division in the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission.

Clause 3 provides that the Act comes into force upon proclamation.

An Act to Amend Chapter 214
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Human Rights Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Clause 2(f) of Chapter 214 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Human Rights Act, as enacted by Chapter 12 of the Acts of 1991, is amended by striking out "to" in the second line.

2 Subsection 26A(3) of Chapter 214, as enacted by Chapter 12 of the Acts of 1991, and amended by Chapter 41 of the Acts of 2007, is further amended by

(a) striking out "Co-ordinator of Race Relations" in the first line and substituting "Manager of Race Relations, Equity and Inclusion";

(b) striking out "Co-ordinator of Race Relations" in the second and third lines of clause (a) and substituting "Manager of Race Relations, Equity and Inclusion"; and

(c) striking out "the Race Relations Division" in the second line of clause (b) and substituting "Race Relations, Equity and Inclusion".

3 This Act comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
