Explanatory Note

This Bill amends the Education Act to ban the use of cell phones, and similar devices, in school classrooms by students.

An Act to Amend Chapter 1
of the Acts of 1995-96,
the Education Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 1 of the Acts of 1995-96, the Education Act, is amended by adding immediate after Section 24 the following Section:

24A (1) No student shall use a cellular telephone or other communications device in a school classroom.

(2) For greater certainty, this Section applies to private schools.
