An Act to Amend Chapter 293
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Motor Vehicle Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 (1) Subsection 67(11) of Chapter 293 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Motor Vehicle Act, as amended by Chapter 34 of the Acts of 1996, Chapter 32 of the Acts of 1998 and Chapter 20 of the Acts of 2002, is further amended by adding "and ignition interlock and monitoring program" immediately after "program" in the fourth line.

(2) Subsection 67(13) of Chapter 293 is amended by adding "and "ignition interlock and monitoring program" " immediately before "and" in the third line.

2 Clause 93(2)(e) of Chapter 293, as amended by Chapters 41 and 42 of the Acts of 2004, is further amended by

(a) striking out "or or" at the end of subclause (ii);

(b) adding "or" at the end of subclause (iii) as enacted by Chapter 41; and

(c) renumbering subclause (iii) as enacted by Chapter 42 as (iv).

3 Chapter 293 is further amended by adding immediately after Section 300 the following Section:

300A Notwithstanding Sections 292 to 299A, any person who exceeds the maximum rate of speed in a school area referred to in Section 103 or on a portion of a highway designated as a temporary work area is liable to a fine not exceeding double the maximum set out in those Sections and, where there is a minimum fine, is liable to double the minimum fine.

4 Section 5 of Chapter 32 of the Acts of 1998, An Act to Amend Chapter 293 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Motor Vehicle Act, is amended by

(a) adding "(1)" immediately after the Section number;

(b) adding ", except Section 4," immediately after "Act" in the first line; and

(c) adding the following subsection:

(2) Section 4 has effect on and after January 1, 2007.

5 This Act comes into force on January 1, 2007, or such earlier date as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
