Explanatory Notes

Clause 1 requires the Governor in Council to presume universal, mandatory coverage to be desirable when making regulations respecting the application of the Act.

Clause 2 requires the Governor in Council to appoint a Review Committee and establishes requirements for the Review Committee's composition and mandate.

An Act to Amend Chapter 10
of the Acts of 1994-95,
the Workers' Compensation Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 3 of Chapter 10 of the Acts of 1994-95, the Workers' Compensation Act, is amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following subsection:

2 (1) Subsection 161(1) of Chapter 10, as amended by Chapter 1 of the Acts of 1999, is further amended by striking out "within three months from the beginning of the year 2001" in the second and third lines and substituting "by January 1, 2018".

(2) Clause 161(2)(e) of Chapter 10 is amended by striking out "and the date by which the Committee shall make its report and recommendations to the Governor in Council".

(3) Section 161 of Chapter 10, as amended by Chapter 1 of the Acts of 1999, is further amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following subsections:
