An Act Respecting
Grants to Universities

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Universities Assistance Act.

2 In this Act, "Minister" means the Minister of Labour and Advanced Education.

3 The Minister may, to the extent authorized by the Legislature, make grants to universities to assist the universities in defraying operating expenditures and expenditures for capital purposes.

4 The Minister may

(a) designate institutions or organizations as universities for some or all of the purposes of this Act;

(b) prescribe the amounts of grants or any grant;

(c) prescribe the terms and conditions upon which a grant may be made;

(d) prescribe forms of applications for grants and the information to be supplied by an applicant for a grant;

(e) require recipients of grants to make reports or returns to the Minister and prescribe the form and content thereof.

5 With the approval of the Governor in Council, the Minister may enter into and execute such agreements and instruments as are necessary to carry out any provision of this Act.

6 Chapter 11 of the Acts of 2015, the Universities Accountability and Sustainability Act, is repealed.
