An Act to Amend Chapter 254
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Libraries Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 3 of Chapter 254 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Libraries Act, is amended by striking out "Education" in the first line and substituting "Communities, Culture and Heritage".

2 Section 5 of Chapter 254 is amended by

(a) striking out "Education" in the first line and substituting "Communities, Culture and Heritage";

(b) striking out "himself" in the first line of clause (g);

(c) striking out "National Library of Canada" in the second line of clause (g) and substituting "Libraries and Archives Canada"; and

(d) striking out "to him" in the first and second lines of clause (h).

3 Subsection 6(1) of Chapter 254 is amended by striking out "Education" in the second line and substituting "Communities, Culture and Heritage".

4 Clause 11(h) of Chapter 254, as amended by Chapter 32 of the Acts of 1990, is further amended by striking out "Education" in the first and second lines and substituting "Communities, Culture and Heritage".

5 (1) Subsection 12(1) of Chapter 254 is amended by

(a) striking out "Provincial Library Council" in the first and second lines and substituting "Funding Review Committee";

(b) striking out "Education" in the first line of clause (a) and substituting "Communities, Culture and Heritage";

(c) striking out "his" in the second line of clause (a) and substituting "the Minister's";

(d) striking out "Council" in the last line of clause (a) and substituting "Funding Review Committee"; and

(e) striking out "Council" in the last line of clause (b) and substituting "Committee".

(2) Subsection 12(2) of Chapter 254 is amended by striking out "Library Council" in the second line and substituting "Funding Review Committee".

(3) Subsection 12(3) of Chapter 254 is amended by

(a) striking out "Library Council" in the first line and substituting "Funding Review Committee";

(b) striking out "his" in the second line; and

(c) striking out "he" in the last line and substituting "the member".

(4) Subsection 12(4) of Chapter 254 is amended by striking out "Council" in the last line and substituting "Funding Review Committee".

(5) Subsection 12(5) of Chapter 254 is amended by striking out "Library Council" in the first line and substituting "Funding Review Committee".

(6) Subsection 12(6) of Chapter 254 is amended by striking out "Library Council" in the first line and substituting "Funding Review Committee".

6 Subsection 13(1) of Chapter 254, as amended by Chapter 19 of the Acts of 1990, is further amended by

(a) striking out "Library Council" in the first line and substituting "Funding Review Committee"; and

(b) striking out "Education" in the third line and substituting "Communities, Culture and Heritage".

7 Subsection 14(2) of Chapter 254, as amended by Chapters 19 and 32 of the Acts of 1990, is further amended by striking out "Education" in the third line and substituting "Communities, Culture and Heritage".

8 Section 16 of Chapter 254, as amended by Chapter 32 of the Acts of 1990, is further amended by striking out "he deems" in the second line.
