Clause 1 amends the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter to correct a typographical error in the statute reference in Chapter 52 of the Act of 2010.Clause 2 amends the Municipal Government Act to grant municipalities more flexibility in regulating lot size by removing references to "minimum" and "maximum" from the land use by-laws and thus become consistent with the HRM Charter. Clause 3 amends the Municipal Government Act to allow the Minister instead of the Governor in Council to set fees for municipal auditors. Clause 4 provides that this Act comes into force on proclamation.
1 Chapter 52 of the Acts of 2010, An Act to Amend Chapter 39 of the Acts of 2008, the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter, is amended by striking out "79" in the first line of Clause 2 and substituting "39".
2 Subsection 220(4) of Chapter 18 of the Acts of 1998, the Municipal Government Act, as amended by Chapter 9 of the Acts of 2000 and Chapter 40 of the Acts of 2006, is further amended by
(a) striking out "minimum" in the first line of clause (a); and
(b) striking out "maximum" in the first line of clause (g).
3 Section 457 of Chapter 18 is amended by
(a) striking out "Governor in Council" in the last line of subsection (5) and substituting "Minister"; and
(b) striking out "Governor in Council" in the last line of subsection (6) and substituting "Minister".
4 This Act comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
