Clauses 1 to 3 amend the Land Registration Act to
(a) change the requirement for the Minister of Service Nova Scotia to establish and maintain a land registration office in each land registration district to a requirement for land registration offices to be established and maintained by the Minister as prescribed by the Governor in Council by regulation; and (b) authorize the Minister to appoint deputy registrars general.
1 Subsection 7(3) of Chapter 6 of the Acts of 2001, the Land Registration Act, is amended by striking out "land registration district" in the second line and substituting "location prescribed by the Governor in Council".
2 Chapter 6 is further amended by adding immediately after Section 8 the following Section:
(2) The Minister may, in accordance with the Civil Service Act, appoint additional deputy registrars general as may be required to assist the Registrar General in the performance of his or her duties.
(3) A deputy registrar general appointed under subsection (1) or (2) may perform any of the duties and exercise any of powers of the Registrar General as directed by the Registrar General and shall perform such other duties as directed by the Minister.
4 Section 7 of Chapter 392 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Registry Act, is repealed and the following Section substituted:
5 Section 1 comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
