Registered Reflexology Therapists Act

2 The purpose of this Act is to restrict the use of the designation "Registered Reflexology Therapist" to registered members of The Nova Scotia Association of Reflexology Practitioners who meet the qualifications set out in this Act.

(a) "Association" means The Nova Scotia Association of Reflexology Practitioners, a non-profit association registered under the Societies Act;

(b) "recognized reflexology therapy training program" means a professional reflexology therapy certification training program whose curriculum is recognized by the Association;

4 (1) The Association shall maintain a Register on which is the name of every person who

(b) carries professional liability insurance coverage as prescribed by the Association; and

(2) A person whose name is on the Register is entitled to use the designation "Registered Reflexology Therapist".

5 No person shall use the designation "Registered Reflexology Therapist" unless that person's name is on the Register.

6 Nothing in this Act applies to or prevents the practice by any person of any health discipline.

7 Nothing in this Act prevents the practice of reflexology therapy.

8 (1) A person who violates this Act is guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine of not more than two thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both.

(2) All fines and penalties payable under this Act, as a result of a prosecution by or on behalf of the Association, belong to the Association.

(3) Any information to be laid pursuant to this Act may be laid by any member of the Association.

9 This Act comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
