Explanatory Note
This Bill amends the Employment Support and Income Assistance Act to provide that
the Minister cannot consider a person's first $5,000 of employment income each year when
determining the level of assistance for that person under the Act.
An Act to Amend Chapter 27
of the Acts of 2000,
the Employment Support
and Income Assistance Act
Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
1 Chapter 27 of the Acts of 2000, the Employment Support and Income
Assistance Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 7 the following Section:
7A Notwithstanding any other provision of
this Act or the regulations, the Minister shall not consider the first five thousand dollars of
employment income received in a calendar year by a person after the coming into force of this
Section in determining the level of income assistance to that person under this Act.
