Explanatory Note

This Bill amends the Heritage Property Act to increase from one year to two years the waiting period before the owner of a municipal heritage property may substantially alter the exterior appearance of or demolish the property without the approval of the municipality. The change only applies until September 1, 2009.

An Act to Amend Chapter 199
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Heritage Property Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 18 of Chapter 199 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Heritage Property Act, is amended by adding "(1)" immediately after the Section number and adding the following subsection:

2 This Act comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
