Explanatory Note

This Bill amends the Assessment Act to apply to housing co-operatives the limit on increases in the assessed value of certain properties for municipal taxation purposes (the "assessment cap").

An Act to Amend Chapter 23
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Assessment Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 45A of Chapter 23 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Assessment Act, as enacted by Chapter 10 of the Acts of 2004 and amended by Chapter 24 of the Acts of 2006, is further amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following subsection:
