Explanatory Note

This Bill exempts a non-resident who becomes a resident from registering his or her motor vehicle in Nova Scotia and from obtaining a Nova Scotia driver's licence so long as he or she is a student and if, in the case of the vehicle, it is only used for non-business purposes.

An Act to Amend Chapter 293
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Motor Vehicle Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 13 of Chapter 293 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Motor Vehicle Act, as amended by Chapter 42 of the Acts of 2004, is further amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following subsection:

2 Section 65 of Chapter 293 is amended by adding immediately after subsection (4) the following subsection:
