Explanatory Note

This Bill extends the authority to pass by-laws prohibiting the use of pesticides for cosmetic purposes to all municipalities. At present, only Halifax Regional Municipality may do so.

An Act to Amend Chapter 18
of the Acts of 1998,
the Municipal Government Act,
to Regulate the Application and Use
of Pesticides for Cosmetic Purposes

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Cosmetic Pesticides Act.

2 Clause 172(1)(j) of Chapter 18 of the Acts of 1998, the Municipal Government Act, is repealed and the following clause substituted:

3 Section 533 of Chapter 18 is repealed.
