Explanatory Note
This Bill prohibits the holding of a plebiscite on Provincial matters in conjunction with a
municipal election.
An Act to Amend Chapter 300
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Municipal Elections Act
Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
1 Chapter 300 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Municipal Elections Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 2 the following Section:
2A Notwithstanding any other Act, no plebiscite relating
solely to Provincial matters may be held pursuant to this Act in conjunction with an election.
