An Act to Require the Development
and Implementation of a
Palliative Care Strategy for Nova Scotia

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Palliative Care Strategy Act.

2 Subject to Section 3, the Government shall, in consultation with

(a) district health authorities;

(b) healthcare workers;

(c) the Nova Scotia Hospice Palliative Care Association; and

(d) other stakeholders identified by the Minister of Health,

develop and implement a palliative care strategy for the Province by April 1, 2008.

3 The moneys required for the purpose of this Act shall be paid from moneys appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
