Explanatory Note
This Bill doubles the fines under the Motor Vehicle Act for exceeding the speed limit or failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk in a school zone or playground zone.
An Act to Amend Chapter 293
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Motor Vehicle Act
Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
1 Chapter 293 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Motor Vehicle Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 103 the following Section:
103A Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, where a person is guilty of speeding in a school zone or playground zone or failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk in a school zone or playground zone the fine is twice the fine set out for the offence in this Act.
