Explanatory Note

This Bill requires a plebiscite to be held in conjunction with the next general election asking whether video lottery terminals ("VLTs") should be illegal and, if the result of the plebiscite is that VLTs should be illegal, requiring the Governor in Council to make regulations making VLTs illegal.

An Act to Amend Chapter 4
of the Acts of 1994-95,
the Gaming Control Act,
to Authorize a Binding Plebiscite Respecting
the Operation of Video Lottery Terminals

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 4 of the Acts of 1994-95, the Gaming Control Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 67 the following Section:

2 Subsection 127(1) of Chapter 4, as amended by Chapter 28 of the Acts of 2000, is further amended by adding immediately after clause (u) the following clause:
