Explanatory Notes

Clause 1 requires a person injuring an animal to report the injury to the owner or person in charge of the animal or to a peace officer as soon as reasonably possible. This does not apply to wildlife unless in captivity unless it is apparent that the owner or person in charge of the animal is aware of the injury.

Clause 2 requires a person injuring wildlife to report the injury to the Department of Natural Resources as soon as reasonably possible.

An Act to Amend Chapter 22

and to Amend Chapter 504
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,

1 Chapter 22 of the Acts of 1996, the Animal Cruelty Prevention Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 11 the following Section:

2 Chapter 504 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Wildlife Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 10 the following Section:
