Explanatory Notes

Clause 1 adds Remembrance Day to the list of holidays in the Labour Standards Code for which an employee is entitled to a holiday with pay.

Clause 2 amends the definition of "holiday" in the Interpretation Act.

An Act to Amend Chapter 24
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Labour Standards Code, and
Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the Interpretation Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Subsection 37(1) of Chapter 246 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Labour Standards Code, is amended by adding ", Remembrance Day" immediately after "Day" the second time it appears in the third line.

2 Clause 7(1)(j) of Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Interpretation Act, is amended by striking out "other than Remembrance Day" in the tenth and eleventh lines.
