Explanatory Note

This Bill prohibits the Minister of Education from providing grants to a university under the Universities Assistance Act until the university agrees to freeze tuition and other student fees at the levels in effect on the coming into force of this Bill. In addition, this Bill requires the Minister of Education to develop an action plan that provides for sustainable university funding.

An Act to Amend Chapter 13
of the Acts of 1994,
the Universities Assistance Act,
to Freeze University Tuition Fees and
to Require an Action Plan to be Developed
for Sustainable University Funding

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 13 of the Acts of 1994, the Universities Assistance Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 4 the following Sections:
