Explanatory Note

This Bill increases, effective October 1, 2002, the supplementary benefits for workers injured before March 23, 1990, who suffered a permanent partial disability.

An Act to Amend Chapter 10
of the Acts of 1994-95,
the Workers' Compensation Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Subsection 227(4) of Chapter 10 of the Acts of 1994-95, the Workers' Compensation Act, as amended by Chapter 1 of the Acts of 1999, is further amended by

(a) striking out clause (c) and substituting the following clause:

and

(b) striking out "the amount of a full monthly pension for old age security pursuant to section 3 of the Old Age Security Act (Canada)" in the last three lines and substituting "one half of the average industrial wage for Nova Scotia as prescribed by regulation".

2 Section 1 has effect on and after October 1, 2002.
