Explanatory Notes
Clause 1 requires the Minister of Finance to table in the House of Assembly, or with the Clerk of
the House if the House is not sitting, a report of any additional appropriation approved by the
Governor in Council.
Clause 2 requires the Minister of Finance to table with the Clerk of the House a report of any
special warrants ordered by the Governor in Council.
An Act to Require the Immediate Reporting
of Additional Appropriations
and Special Warrants
Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
1 Section 28 of Chapter 365 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Provincial Finance Act, is
amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following subsection:
(3) Where the Governor in Council orders the appropriation of additional sums pursuant
to subsection (2), the Minister of Finance shall immediately table a report of the
appropriation in the House of Assembly or, if the House is not sitting, with the Clerk of the
House and the report shall include the report to the Minister of Finance made pursuant to
subsection (1).
2 Section 29 of Chapter 365 is amended by adding immediately after subsection (3) the
following subsection:
(4) Where the Governor in Council orders a special warrant to be issued pursuant to
subsection (2) and the House of Assembly is not sitting or has not sat for any of the five
days immediately preceding the issue of the special warrant, the Minister of Finance shall
immediately table a report of the issue of the special warrant with the Clerk of the House
and the report shall include the report to the Minister of Finance made pursuant to
subsection (1).
