Explanatory Note

This Bill

(a) changes the name of the Antiochian Maronite Catholic Church in Nova Scotia to the Antiochian Maronite Catholic Church (Our Lady of Lebanon) in Nova Scotia;

(b) changes the name of the Antiochian Maronite Catholic Church Corporation to the Antiochian Maronite Catholic Church (Our Lady of Lebanon) Corporation; and

(c) changes the membership of the Corporation to provide that the Corporation consists of the Eparchial Bishop, the Protosyncellus, the Pastor , two lay members of the Church who are proposed by the Pastor and appointed by the Eparchial Bishop and such other persons who, from time to time, become members of the Corporation in accordance with the by-laws of the Corporation, as long as they remain members of the Corporation.

An Act to Amend Chapter 38
of the Acts of 1996,
the Antiochian Maronite Catholic Church Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 The long title of Chapter 38 of the Acts of 1996, the Antiochian Maronite Catholic Church Corporation Act, is changed from "An Act to Incorporate the Antiochian Maronite Church Corporation" to "An Act Respecting the Antiochian Catholic Church (Our Lady of Lebanon) Corporation".

2 Section 1 of Chapter 38 is amended by adding "(Our Lady of Lebanon)" immediately after "Corporation" in the second line.

3 Section 2 of Chapter 38 is amended by

(a) adding "(Our Lady of Lebanon)" immediately after "Church" in the second line of clause (a); and

(b) striking out clause (b) and substituting the following clause:

4 Subsection 3(2) of Chapter 38 is repealed and the following subsections substituted:
