THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR: Mr. Speaker, Members of the House of Assembly, in closing this Second Session of the 62nd General Assembly, I thank you for the attention, consideration, and care that you have given to the legislation and measures that have come into this House.

During the last session, government continued with its commitment to make Nova Scotia stronger. Progress was made on promises to fundamentally change the way economic development is done in Nova Scotia, following through on our government's plan to allow the private sector to lead economic growth in Nova Scotia; modernize apprenticeships in Nova Scotia, helping more apprentices complete their training more quickly and at less cost; establish a reasonable timeline for the closure of the Boat Harbour effluent treatment facility; put into action many of the key elements of our 25-year electricity plan; introduce legislation to govern the development of marine renewable energy resources in designated areas of Nova Scotia offshore; modernize the Mineral Resources Act, fulfilling a commitment of the provincial Natural Resources Strategy; make pooled registered pension plans available to the people of Nova Scotia, giving Nova Scotians a new opportunity to save for their retirements; transform the Nova Scotia Tourism Agency into a private-sector-led Crown Corporation - Tourism Nova Scotia - responding to the wishes of tourism stakeholders.

One hundred and three bills received the approval of the House during the session.

I thank you for the ample provision you have made for the Public Service, and I assure you that care and prudence will be exercised to ensure that the amounts voted are expended in the best interests of Nova Scotia.

I now bid you farewell.

HON. STEPHEN MCNEIL » : Mr. Speaker, members of the House of Assembly, it is the will and the pleasure of His Honour, the Lieutenant Governor, that this, the Second Session of the 62nd General Assembly be prorogued, and this session is accordingly prorogued, and that the Third Session of the said General Assembly meet at two o'clock in the afternoon of this day for the dispatch of business.
