Explanatory Note

This Bill amends the Employment Support and Income Assistance Act to include the cost of feminine hygiene products as a special need when determining the amount of financial assistance an applicant is eligible to receive.

An Act to Amend Chapter 27
of the Acts of 2000,
the Employment Support and Income Assistance Act,
Respecting Feminine Hygiene Products

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Subclause 7(2)(b)(ii) of Chapter 27 of the Acts of 2000, the Employment Support and Income Assistance Act, is amended by adding "and include an amount for feminine hygiene products as a special need, where appropriate" immediately after "receive" in the second line.

2 The money required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
