Explanatory Note

This Bill lowers the time within which a writ for a by-election must be issued after a seat in the House of Assembly becomes vacant from six months to 30 days.

(1992 Supplement)
of the Revised Statutes, 1989,
the House of Assembly Act,
Respecting By-elections

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Subsection 10(1) of Chapter 1 (1992 Supplement) of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the House of Assembly Act, as amended by Chapter 7 of the Acts of 2016, is further amended by striking out "six months" in the third line and substituting "thirty days".
