Explanatory Note

This Bill requires that at least two directors of the provincial health authority both have expertise in the delivery of health services and not be employed or directly compensated by the provincial health authority.

An Act to Amend Chapter 32
of the Acts of 2014,
the Health Authorities Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 32 of the Acts of 2014, the Health Authorities Act, is amended by adding immediately after subsection 52(2) the following subsections:

(3) At least two directors appointed pursuant to subsection (2) must both

(a) have expertise in the delivery of health services; and

(b) not be employed or otherwise directly compensated by the provincial health authority.

(4) A physician who has privileges in a health authority is deemed to not be employed or otherwise directly compensated by the provincial health authority for the purpose of clause (3)(a).

2 (1) Clause 53(1)(b) of Chapter 32 is repealed.

(2) Subsection 53(2) of Chapter 32 is repealed.
