Explanatory Note
This Bill amends the LaHave and District Fire Department Act to
(a) remove the requirement for the ratepayers of the District to appoint, at each annual meeting of the ratepayers, a resident of the District to be Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee of the LaHave and District Fire Department;
(b) change references to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Department to the LaHave and District Fire Department Auxiliary; and
(c) increase the amount the Commissioners are authorized to borrow from $250,000 to $5,000,000.
An Act to Amend Chapter 108
of the Acts of 1954,
the LaHave and District Fire Department Act
Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:
1 Subsection 7(1) of Chapter 108 of the Acts of 1954, the LaHave and District Fire Department Act, as enacted by Chapter 82 of the Acts of 1983, is amended by
(a) adding "and" at the end of subclause (b)(ii);
(b) striking out subclause (b)(iii); and
(c) striking out "Ladies Auxiliary of the Department" each time it appears in clause (c) and substituting in each case "LaHave and District Fire Department Auxiliary".
2 Clause 8(b) of Chapter 108, as amended by Chapter 82 of the Acts of 1983 and Chapter 66 of the Acts of 1990, is further amended by striking out "two hundred and fifty thousand" and substituting "five million".
