An Act Respecting
the Heating Assistance Rebate Program

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 This Act may be cited as the Warm Homes Act.

2 In this Act, "Program" means the Heating Assistance Rebate Program.

3 Subject to Section 4, the Minister of Service Nova Scotia shall

(a) for the 2023-2024 Program rebate,
(i) increase the rebate amount to $1,000 for each household,

(ii) increase the net household income threshold to $85,000,

(iii) retroactively adjust any rebate amounts, in accordance with the increases in subclauses (i) and (ii), for applicants whose applications were received or approved before the coming into force of this Act, and

(iv) extend the application deadline to April 30, 2024; and

(b) for future Program rebates, increase the rebate amounts and net individual and household income thresholds by the year-over-year increase in the Consumer Price Index for Nova Scotia published by Statistics Canada.

4 The money required for the purpose of this Act must be paid out of money appropriated for that purpose by the Legislature.
