Explanatory Notes

Clause 1 requires that the Conflict of Interest Commissioner be an officer of the House of Assembly.

Clause 2 requires the Conflict of Interest Commissioner to make an annual report to the Speaker who is then required to table it in the House of Assembly.

An Act to Amend Chapter 35
of the Acts of 2010,
the Conflict of Interest Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Section 4 of Chapter 35 of the Acts of 2010, the Conflict of Interest Act, is amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following subsection:

(2A) The Commissioner is an officer of the House of Assembly.

2 Chapter 35 is further amended by adding immediately after Section 7 the following Section:

7A (1) The Commissioner shall make an annual report to the Speaker of the House of Assembly respecting the exercise of the Commissioner's responsibilities. (2) The Speaker shall table the report in the House of Assembly.
