An Act to Amend Chapter 31
of the Acts of 2004,
the Police Act

Be it enacted by the Governor and Assembly as follows:

1 Chapter 31 of the Acts of 2004, the Police Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 42 the following Section:

42A (1) All members of the Provincial Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, a municipal police department or other police department providing policing services in the Province shall

(a) collect the prescribed information respecting any person who is a victim as defined by the Victims' Rights and Services Act; and

(b) provide that information to a victim services program offered by the Provincial Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the municipal police department or the other police department, as the case may be, or, where no such program is offered, to the Director of Victim Services under that Act, or a person designated by the Director.

(2) Where the Director of Victim Services requests, the information may be provided to both the victim services program and the Director.

2 Subsection 97(1) of Chapter 31 is amended by adding immediately after clause (ap) the following clause:

(apa) prescribing the information to be collected pursuant to Section 42A respecting victims;

3 This Act comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
